Time Taken To Heal A Dislocated Elbow? |
I dislocated my elbow 2 months ago. I went to a chinese doctor and he sort of "twisted" it back for me. At first i thought it was fully recovered. But recently i found out that my right elbow can't bend to th extreme. ( eg. My left elbow can bent to a certain place while my right bends like 3 cm from it. ) Not knowing exactly what you or the doctor did to your elbow it is difficult to say how you are going to heal. Often the elbow does not return to full range of motion after an injury. Have you been doing any rehab? You must rehab any injury or it will not have the full use it did before the injury. Try working on the range of motion to loosen up the joint. As a point of information I broke my elbow and after reconstructive surgery and a year of rehab I did not have full range of motion, and never will. I dislocated my left elbow in a car accident a long time ago. I saw an orthopod who put it back into place and I had to wear a cast for 4 weeks and then had physical therapy. At that time, I was told that I would probably never be able to lay my entire arm down flat. Well they were wrong! I kept with the therapy and now I have total mobility of my left arm and it bends and straightens 100%. I just kept up with the exercizes long after therapy ended and it paid off for me. What happens is when you dislocate anything the muscule and tindents around the joint rip or stretch. When your arm heals the muscule and tindents create scar tissue so its not as flexable as it was before. You can always stretch your arm everyday. That will help it start to be more flexable again. It will hurt alot sometimes but in the end it will really pay off. |
