Felt a pop inside of my elbow lifting weights. Now there is an occasional dull pain. What should I do? |
I was doing incline press and felt a distinct popping sensation on the inside part of my elbow (sort of between the big knob that is the point of your elbow and the smaller knob about an inch inside of it). I could actually keep doing the presses and it really didn't hurt until I tried doing curls. I have laid off for about a week and their is an occasional very dull pain around my elbow. I tried bench press about a week later (today) and the elbow didn't really hurt at all, but as I sit around typing it hurts a bit. The discomfort is somewhat similar to tennis elbow. From what I read on the internet a UCL injury seems like a possibility? Do I need to see a doctor or can this heal on its own? thanks. You should probably go see a doctor. See if there's soemone in your area who specializes in joint health. I messed up my shoulder in TaeKwonDo went to a shoulder and knee specialist who said I had torn cartiledge and put me in physical therapy for several months. I wish I woul dhave gone to him sooner b/c it felt so much better after the therapy. suck it up and drive on....... don't do that anymore. I would see a doctor to make sure you are ok. Ice it. It probably won't ever heal. Unfortunately, weights are not too kinds to joints which is why form is so important. Also, once elbows are hurt, similar to knees they are never the same. You should go get an xray. the elbow is similar to the knee n that there are a lot of jint related things in there, plus there are a lot of large nerves close to the surface, near where you described (funny bone anyone) i would definitaly go see the doctor! i hurt my knee once, i thought i just pulled something, 6 months later, it sometimes still bothers me. I should have gone to therapy. i hurt my hamstring, and it healed a little smaller than normal. Can't hurt to see a doctor and have it checked. Sounds like it may be a sprain/strain at the musculo-tendonous junction which takes a while to heal and can often become chronic if not treated aggressively. Try some of the healing herbs at the resource link. Specifically, the pain patch and muscle-joint injury pills. |
