Forearm muscle injury, what scans can I have?

I was first diagnosed with epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow), which came on from using the computer. Ice and ultrasound help, but have not solved the problem. I have been resting my arm because everytime I lifted something the muscles in my forarm would tighten up and I thought I was making things worse.

Now a different physiotherapist is saying that a previous injury or tear in the forearm muscle was what originally caused the epicondylitis to start. He says that I need to strengthen the muscle (slowly at first) and my problem will be solved.

He simply diagnosed my torn muscle from pressing around on my arm. Are there any scans that can help diagnose this for sure? I had an x-ray on my elbow and wrist and they did not show anything wrong?

Get a second opinion. You can not determine the severity of a tear through palpation. MRI or CT's can help diagnose the root cause. Have your general care physician refer you to a reputable orthopod. Good luck.
