Do you think i should be put on the scrap heap,? |
i've recently been diganosed with carpel tunnel in my left wrist, work related upper limb disorder in my right wrist, also suffering with siatica in my back and tennis elbows, Then where would that put me. I have had Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis since the age of 3, now 38. I have had 50 surgeries since the age of 17 to fix painful deformities. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, TMJ, arthritis in the rib cage, Raynaud's Phenomenon, Sjogren's Syndrome, bursitis, tendonitis. All joints, ligaments, tendons, blood vessels, arteries and muscles are involved. I'm lucky it hasn't hit the internal organs yet, that I know of, I also have soft mixed connective tissue disorder. I've never known what it is like to work, go to school for more than 2 days at a time, have a loving relationship with someone who understands all this crap or wants to put up with it. I asked my self one time " Is it better to have never had these things and been healthy, or to have done these things and then lose them----you answered my question. You will be okay. With every new diagnosis I thought it was the end of the world too, but you will adjust and you will go on and you will remember me............................. Sucks to be you! However, I'm 25, have carpal tunnel in both hands (from work, not texting, lol!) and I also have scoliosis, and I have 7 pins and a metal plate in one ankle. So if you're going to the scrap heap, may as well take me with you! Welcome to the world of the baby boomers. We all have lots of aches and pains, but we are a lot younger for our age than our parents were, aren't we? Decide which is bothering you the most, and have it taken care of. Take pain pills for the rest, and be glad you don't have cancer, diverticulitis or congestive heart failure. Is your parts warranty expiring, dear? Sorry to hear that...really. I've got 9 years up on you and I'm feeling my age (and habits) as well. Pain management is difficult and I hope you come up with things that will help without risking addiction. Good luck and hope you find relief soon. First thing, you should examine what you are eating and drinking. I just read an interesting email today about diet drinks containing aspartame, that were causing Multiple Sclerosis symptoms in thousands of people. When the substance is stopped, the symptoms subside. Years ago, I, myself use to drink diet Coke and after about a week, would have terrible stomach pain. Thinking I was developing an ulcer, I discontinued them. Sure enough, the pain stopped. I just couldn't believe it, so repeated that experiment several times before I was convinced. The aspartame was causing the pain. Did you play alot of sport when you were younger? I know alot of people who were sport champs in high school and now need joint replacements.and they are late 20s!! Its to do with using your joints too much. Dampness may be a problem. Do you get enough sun? Do you eat alot of fish oils, omega 3's ,sunflower oil ect. A lack of which can lead to bad joints. You could try a supplement like glucosamine,go to a health food store. On the other hand ,excuse the pun, you may not be using your joints enough, do you spend hours on a comp? Wrist problems may be due to the circulation and cartilage build up from typing you should life your fingers at an angle so blood is going to the tips. Try some yoga or heat packs, even some gym exercise (gentle). I would see phsysio, and get your choloestorol, heart ect checked out by docs. Finally, not scaring you but do you have MS or nervous disorders in your genetics, worth considering, hope your on the mend soon |
