Pitting Edema?

I am 30 weeks pregnant and have swollen legs and feet. By all the research I have done on the internet, I also have Pitting Edema. When I press on my leg or ankle it leaves an indentation. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I be concerned?

Everytime I go to the Doctor, they check my blood pressure and its fine...

Yes, you should be concerned about pitting edema. You are retaining fluids. Please talk to your OB/GYN about this immediately.

If you can press into your lower leg, foot....and release it and the indentation stays, you have pitting edema.

As long as they keep a close eye on your blood pressure you should be fine. Most women have some edema when they're pregnant so don't worry. However, it wouldn't hurt to cut your salt intake if you can.

this is a normal part of the last trimester of pregnancy. you are retaining fluid. wear support hose, drink lots of water, and elevate you legs every chance you get. it will resolve after the baby is born.
