Macular Edema?

i am recently diagnosed type 2 diabetes and my vision is very blurry, my a1c was 12 and blood sugar 900+ when i was admitted to icu. should i be concerned about macular edema

Yes you should. But first, get your A1C back down to something livable and reduce your blood sugar to at least 150 and maybe lower.
Swelling of the retina in diabetes mellitus due to leaking of fluid from blood vessels within the macula. The macula is the central portion of the retina, a small area rich in cones, the specialized nerve endings that detect color and upon which daytime vision depends.
As macular edema develops, blurring occurs in the middle or just to the side of the central visual field. Visual loss from diabetic macular edema can progress over a period of months and make it impossible to focus clearly.
Macular edema in common in diabetes. The lifetime risk for diabetics to develop macular edema is about 10%. The condition is closely associated with the degree of diabetic retinopathy (retinal disease).
So your chances are around 10% that you will get it. But your main concern is to keep good circulation around your extremities. Watch your diet and get some exercise. Once you have leveled your blood sugar and maintain a normal level, you other major concern is your heart.
Keep in close contact with your doctor and good luck.

if u keep letting your sugar get so out of control u should worry about alotof diabetic complications, I know as a fellow out of control diabetic
