How to measure edema?

what is the differnce between pitting and non pitting edema?

If you press your finger on the skin of someone who has pitting edema that will cause a depression in there skin that will remain that way until the edema is relieved. if someone has just edema they will have the swelling, water retention, but it won't cause a depression in there skin when pressed on.

Pitting edema is when you push in on the skin it stays pushed in.

Pitting is when you push in with your index finger and the skin stays indented.
