What type of doctor should I seek for edema in my leg.? |
I have been experiencing swelling in my right leg and my right foot. (The area below my knee) I have been exeriencing this for over 4 months and I need second opinions. I have seen my Doctor and he states that I have edema and that it would probably stay with me. He reccommended elevation and support hose. The elevation helps alot (swelling goes down) but the support hose do not work at all. After walking around after elevation, my leg, foot and ankle swell back up within 3 to 4minutes. I am 33, do not drink or smoke, play ball and workout 3 times a week. I have had Cat Scans, MRI's, Doppler tests and all have come back negative for DVT and blood clots. What do I do?? It could be due to a ruptured Baker's Cyst. That happened to me. One day my right leg suddenly started swelling below the knee all the way down. Over the period of an hour or so it was almost doubled in size so I went to the ER because I knew something was wrong. They did an ultrasound and diagnosed it. The swelling lasted for several months and my leg was very painful during that time. Eventually it went away but it was very helpful to know what the problem was. see an orthopedic or a foot/leg specialist. |
