Could eczema be diagnosed as ringworm or ringworm as eczema? Or it is something else?

3M ago, my daughter(3y) developed rash on back of her keens and elbows. It is diagnosed as eczema and I applied prescribed steriod on her for four week on and off, the original rash faded a bit, but never went away. New rashes were developed on her legs and up body. The second visit to the dermatologist didn鈥檛 help. We went to her regular doctor and he said it was ringworm and prescribed an OTC cream. We applied for a week, more rashes appeared and she also developed hives. It appears she is allergic to the ringworm medicine. Two more doctors looked at her and thought it is eczema. Is it possible to get ringworm and eczema mixed up? Ringworm is highly contagious, but I didn鈥檛 get any from her. Eczema should be itch first, rash. But her rash appeared first. Could it be something else? I am watching her rash spreading her body daily, but felt helpless. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. (I also put a lot of moisturizer on her daily).

Your poor daughter.

See your doctor and get the affected areas tested by a pathologist or a referral to a dermatologist and **identify the cause**.

If it's hard to treat eczema and steroid cream is not enough then talk to your doctor about using wet bandages. When you get it in maintainance then find an alternative to steroid cream.

totally different ailments ..one is a contagious disease the other is an allergy to dry air
