My eczema keeps coming right back after it clears up with the cream my doctor gave me......? |
So it goes away for a couple of days and then it comes right back when I stop using the cream. I have asked two different doctors how long am I supposed to keep applying it and they always say until it goes away.....well I do that, but!!! I have even kept using the cream for a week after it's gone hoping that would make it stay gone. I don't like this cycle thing because I hear these rash creams thin your skin out over time, and that kinda creeps me out. I am not very thick-skinned to begin with!! I don't use harsh face cleaners, i only use Eucerine or Cetaphil but that doesn't seem to matter to my eczema. I heard that sulfur is good for eczema, so I use that at least once a week, but no results. How long did it take for your eczema to go away? actually the eczema just showed up a couple of years ago when i turned 26 and hasn't gone away since. I have been on mostly vegan diet almost all year and just recently started consuming dairy products again and notice no change in health at all. Hi MAO It's in your blood. You have to pamper yourself for the rest of your life. It doesn't go away...but your skin do smooth out. This may not be your problem, but my son would get eczema breakouts when he consumed milk products. He uses Cortaid, takes Aveeno oatmeal baths and has a humidifier in his room. If he's feeling itchy and he can't get it under control, the doctor will give him a round of antibiotics. You might want to get allergy tested to see if something in your environment or something that you are consuming is causing your eczema. It will be a lifelong battle though. I don't think eczema will go away. You just get the frequency and severity of the breakouts under control. Eczema comes and goes. However,t he prescription creams can cause a rebound effect. The eczema suppresses the problem artificially and when you stop, it can keep rebounding back. Keep your skin moisturized with an unscented moisturizer, use the prescription cream very sparingly (ie very thin layer) as little as possible. Eczema treatment is discussed at the source below. |
