stimulant, amphetamine most the time because a lot of people combine the main drug with some sort of amphetamine. Short term it gives the user a euphoric sense, dehydrates, feeling of all togetherness, increases heart rate. Long term if taking regularly it can cause serious health related problems, also is extremely addicting. It is a very dangerous drug to take, especially if you do not know what your getting. If you do however know what your getting, it is a very interesting drug to try once or twice.

From what I know...Ecstasy is generally classified as a type of ampetamine, but because it is usually a homemade type thing it can contain hallucinogenic/stimulant/narcotic qualities. E is known for its ability to make you "feel good" because it releases seratonin, the hormone in your body that makes you happy. It lasts for a good long while. Bad thing about E is that taking too much of it at once or taking it for extended periods of time can kill your brain. Seratonin has a very short half life, and after it dies it becomes a toxin to the brain. In short dosages the brain can handle it, but E produces mass amounts of seratonin so eventually, it can make you stoopid! If your going to do it, take it in stride!

It's a semisynthetic entactogen of the phenethylamine drug family. Short term effects include openness, empathy, energy, euphoria, and well-being. Sometimes tactile sensations are enhanced, or people clecnh tehir ajws or have an elevated pulse. Other effects include the caffeine-like effects of energy stimulation.

The short-term health risks of taking MDMA include hypertension, dehydration and hyperthermia, with the last two particularly notable in the rave context of dancing for long periods of time, as the drug's stimulatory effects can mask the body's normal sense of exhaustion and thirst.

The effects of long-term use in humans are debatable and the subject of much controversy, particularly with regard to the risks of severe long-term depression as a result of a reduction in the natural production of serotonin.

I agree with above.
Alot of the "ecstasy" out there is hardly even half ecstasy. To turn a profit, many cooks will make it with amphetamines or other chemicals similar to MDMA (the chemical that is usually the main drive in ecstasy).
BTW amphetamines are stimulants :)
A big danger with X is dehydration (and sometimes hyperhydration) the X will dehydrate you severely so sometimes people who know this will continuously drink water to keep hydrated and can lead to hyperhydration which is equally deadly.

It's better to just avoid drugs altogether though in case you are thinking of it.

Even though it was used as a research therapy drug, it is hardly sold pure on the streets anymore and should be avoided because the extras you might get could be fatal (kinda like Russian Roulette).

Its a little bit of both, and take it from me a person who has had much experience DONT TAKE IT!!. Not even once this **** is more addictive than heroin. Sure you'll have a good time for a couple of hours but the next morning you'll want to die. Please dont take it, go smoke some pot!

Short term effects would be the first 3 days after using ecstasy you tend to feel depressed, dehydrated, and you will have pain in your lower back. Long term effects can be depression. A lot of people become addicted EASILY, I'm saying even after one time. It will be the happiest you've ever been, so many think of ecstasy as a relief and something that will make them happy unconditonally. Your body and mind become dependent on the drug which makes it very hard to stay away from and not get addicted. Do not mess with ecstasy.
