Ecstasy Health Concern, Please Help.?

I am a college student, 3.95 gpa, very anti-drug. My friend Simon, one of my classmates, very intelligent, but has an addiction to the deadly drug Ecstasy. He has been a recreational user for the past few months. Every week or so his "high" and side effects change.

The past weekend he did his usual fill of pills. But now, he is having a strange side effect. Ecstasy is a dangerous neurotoxin. It makes you feel good, and in the process destroys many serentonin receptors.

His symptoms: He describes it like this: Getting better, but no signs of significant improvement. It's almost like someone i giving me a very mild shock of electricity in random spots throughout my body. But accompanied by this shock, is a feeling of pleasure. Whenever he puts his body under stress, picking something up, bending down, getting up. It is random, he will feel this jolt radiating from his left side, then his right, in his head, chest, arms and legs, in pulses. A pulse of pain with pleasure? Please help.

You are a very good friend to have this valid concern. Even intelligent peolple make bad choices. It's sounds to me like he is increasingly alarmed by the symptoms and side effects of this drug. This is of no help I'm sure, but please encourage him to stop using and see a doctor or neurologist about his symptoms so that he can be examined further. I wish him luck.

I think your friend needs more help than most of us on here can give. He really should look into rehab.
