What is inferior wall ischemia? |
Can anybody explain to me what is meant by inferior wall ischemia? is it a serious disorder? Can it be detected with echocardiography? What type of treatment and lifestyle is advised for someone diagnosed with it (age 31, normal blood pressure)? Inferior wall ischemia refers to a condition of the heart muscle. It usually occurs as a result of a blockage in one of the arteries supplying that portion of the heart muscle with oxygen. This is a serious condition, and can be indicative of what is commonly known as a "heart attack". It is often first diagnosed by EKG, but may also be diagnosed by echocardiogram. This finding should be taken seriously, if confirmed by a medical professional as an actual diagnosis. Often, patients are given copies of their EKG's, which are "read" by a computer. The interpretation on the EKG can be misleading, as it is often worded, "consider inferior wall ischemia". There are many intricacies involved in the interpretation of an EKG, and if your question stems from your having read such a document, you should find a reputable practitioner whom you trust, to interpret the results of your tests. She would use blood testing, physical examination and possibly EKG stress testing to give you a definitive answer. The best advice for lifestyle health is simple. Eat a healthy high fiber, low sodium, low saturated fat diet, exercise regularly, abstain from tobacco and excessive alcohol use and drink plenty of water. Get adequate daily rest and relaxation and abstain from risky sexual activity. Inferior wall ischemia is also known as blockage in the heart's bottom artery. This can be treated (surgically) with Cardiac Catheterization and angioplasty with primary stent placement. It is a Heart problem. Details can be seen in this link: you probably got this report on an ECG.it means the inferior wall of your heart(right ventricle mostly) was not receiving adequate blood supply showing changes on ecg.good to get an angiography done and find the vessel responsible.if blockage is too much you may need bypass or otherwise just lifestyle modifications only. It's very serious. Your very lucky they found it early. I know it's a big, big worry but you really have something to celebrate. You were on your way to having a heart attack. ischmia proves that that particular part of heart muscle is not getting oxygen at all. It can be detected but echo test and not by ECG test. It must due to blockage of some kind in arteries, You need to consult a cardiologist and change life style in such a way that you you reduce your cholesterol level and keep blood pressure under control. Doctor will suggest you what you need to do . May be he suggests you the angiography and angioplasty if taste proves you need it. its when you bleed from your toes |
