Eating Disorders are serious how come people make fun of people with Eating Disorders? |
So many people including myself have an eating disorder. So why do so many people think its humorous to make fun of or imitate people with eating disorders? I lived with someone with an eating disorder, and it was no laughing matter. They can be very life threatening if it gets out of control. For most people with eating disorders, there is some psychologically damaged component that is at the root of the problem, most often very low self-esteem and hence body image issues. their ignorant. they just don't realize how serious it is to people who have this problem It's hard to explain what makes people jerks, but they're out there. They are either trying to hide their own issues or have never had an issue that they've been made fun of for. In other words, they have no sympathy People are cruel to say the least. I know a lot of people who laugh at people too heavy or too thin. Why don't people concentrate on something positive to say instaed of putting people down as no one is perfect. Some people have absolutely no sense of compassion or empathy. They'll make fun of anyone who's different from them. Truthfully, they're the pathetic people, not the people they make fun of. It's really sad to see. People make fun of people with all kinds of disabilities. I link to believe in Karma, that they'll get what they deserve in the end. I hope you're able to ignore them and go on with getting help for your disorder so you can get your life back. Good luck, sweetie! becuz they are considered not normal ppl picked on me becuz i was skinny but just face it this is the way god made me so im satisfied. be that make fun of others are just immature babies that wont be able to get up and have the nerve to go in public if it was them Many reasons... I think some people fail to see it as an actual illness, they think that people choose to be that way. I don't make fun of people with eating disorders but I have to admit that recently I was judgmental about a lady who appears to have an eating disorder. I see this lady around all the time and she is so extremely skinny and I was just thinking to myself that she looked really awful and I was really unsympathetic towards her. But the other day I heard her laughing at something and I realized that she's human and has feelings too and I felt ashamed for judging her. If she does have an eating disorder then I do not have the right do judge her for that, I have no idea what her life is like. Nobody does so we should all remember that when we judge someone based on something like an eating disorder. this is not how I feel but in general people look down on those with eating disorders as this illness is something that is completely self-inflicted so there is no sympathy felt and sometimes even hostility towards those with the illness. |
