I need info on eating disorders in teenagers?

I need as much info asap on teenagers with anorexia or bulimia.

What is causes?

What are the symptoms?

Approximately how many teenagers in the US suffer from anorexia or bulimia?

How long can an eating disorder go for?

Are they easy to overcome?

What treatment is needed to overcome an eating disorder?

Can you overcome an eating disorder without professional help?

Why do so many people misunderstand eating disorders?

Please list as much as you know, thanks.

That is extremely complicated. To get the long answer, go to the websites I provide for you. Put simply:

- many causes, mainly a distorted self image and low self esteem
-symptoms... deteriorating tooth enamel, hair loss, weight loss, moodiness
- MANY!
- years and years and years
- They are not easy to overcome at all
- Proffesional therapy
- Yes, it worked for me
- Because many people do not truly take time to understand things; they are afraid of things they do not understand, and people ridicule and judge the things they are afraid of

Now check out these sites for the full description:

-anything..ranging from family and friends to jealously and the media!

-low weight, sore throat, hair falling out, cold all the time, always goes to the bathroom after meals, shaky, no energy, all the bad stuff!

-approximately 11 million.. Report It

-people dont understand that its not always about weight it may start out that way or so people think but they're just like "eat a hamburger" and that is very unfair its HARD, people don't understand it is just like any other mental diease Report It

I don't know alot but I have friends that have had them in the past. They are now super weight freaks, but they did get over it.They had to go to counseling and wanted to be helped. They said they could control there eating when they couldn't control anything else. I'm sure the person can over come it w/ alot of love and support.

I found some good info here.
