Scared of eating disorders?

I'm a 15 year old girl and am about to go on a diet. Nothing serious, just healthier and in smaller portions. But I've heard so much about eating disorders and how they can pull you in. I'm thinking about telling my best-guy-friend about it so i know that i'll have someone that will talk to a me and/or the school counselor if i do get sucked in. However, i'm worried it might add on to the pressure he feels already (he lost his mom to toxic shock syndrome). I don't know what i should do. Advice?

i can't talk to my doctor. My doctor's my dad. His answer will depend strictly on his mood. If he's pissed off, he'll talk only about how fat and disgusting i am. Otherwise, it's the "you look fine, how could you think that" crap

A diet that consists of eating healthier and in smaller portions should not lead to an eating disorder, as long as you're being sensible about it. In other words, eating a few carrot sticks or lettuce leaves, and calling that a meal, would not go under the category of healthy eating in smaller portions. You still have to have a balanced diet that consists of protein, whole grains, vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, such as olive or canola oil, and low-fat dairy products in smaller portions will help you lose a few pounds. Eating disorders are generally psychological problems -- an obsession with one's body image. For example, a girl weighing 115 pounds and perceiving herself as being fat. That can lead to anorexia or bulimia.

Leave your boyfriend out of it, but do talk to your parents, a counselor or dietician if you need a support system, or someone to advise you on a proper diet. Good luck!

First role of thumb is to always ALWAYS check with your Dr. before starting a diet, don't you think at 15 that is a little bit pre-occupied with your wieght? I have been anorexic, and now I am slightly overweight, not by much, however, I know what it feels like on both ends of the stick and trust me I would rather have the few extra pounds then to be so thin and sickly looking. Good luck with what you are trying to obtain, but make sure you use a good head about dieting and talk to your Dr.

honey if your in a good weight why go on a diet and if you do try to eat chicken, fish and their good for you just don't get carried away i was an anorexic mi self and i started like this by going on a diet and later on i felt like i was trap on my own body anything i ate or drank i would think it would make me fat even if it was water and i was i a good weight before all of this so take care and god bless you!!
