Can eating disorders cause GIT cancer?

i have horrible eating disorders and what worries me more now than gaining weight is that it may lead to cancer....

I don't know if gastrointestinal cancer can be CAUSED by an eating disorder (such as anorexia) but the opposite is certainly true. "Cancer anorexia" is a well-known symptom related to the latter stages of cancer. Just wondering, do you have any signs of a peptic ulcer? Some people present no symptoms except for a mild epigastric tenderness, but they may experience (no matter where the ulcer is located) pain in the area of the upper abdomen, varying in intensity from person to person, and variously described as dull, boring, burning, or gnawing. The pain is usually experienced on an empty stomach, a few hours after meals and is often relieved by food or by taking antacids. Sometimes the person may be awakened by pain, especially late at night, that can radiate to the back. Could this be why you are asking about the GI tract? Also, recent studies show that thin women have a much lower risk of developing breast cancer, if that makes you feel any better.
P.S. - I did find this in my search on the web:
"People who are obese and also have a binge-eating disorder are at risk for type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, levels, gallbladder disease, heart disease, and certain types of cancer."
The write-up didn't specify the type of cancer, and it is unclear as to whether or not the eating disorder of obesity or the binging (or both) is the true culprit that causes the cancer.
Another article says:
"Stomach ulcers do not appear to increase a person's risk of developing stomach cancer. However, some studies suggest that a type of bacteria, Helicobacter pylori, which may cause stomach inflammation and ulcers, can be an important risk factor for this disease. Also, research shows that people who have had stomach surgery or have pernicious anemia, achlorhydria, or gastric atrophy (which generally results in lower than normal amounts of digestive juices) have an increased risk of stomach cancer." That said, if you purge, you lose digestive (gastric) juices and, in turn, have an increased risk for stomach cancer--I conclude.
