Continuous ear infections...help!!?

I am constantly getting mild ear infections. Ever since my first ear infection last year they keep returning.
Everytime i go to the doctor i get the same treatment of drops which cures them but only for a week or so. I went on a course of Co-amoxicillin which kept them away for a month but now it is back in both ears.
I know my ear infections are outer ear infections and they do not get very painful anymore but they are sore and annoying. But I am also afraid that infections like my first couple will return, as I had to go to hospital. I'm 15.

please help--x

Hi Sahra,
Your problem is usually common to much younger people as in 6 and younger. After you go swimming or have a shower make sure you dry the ears properly and do not use a Que Tip. They can pierce the ear drum and the infection can then enter the middle ear. Use a hair drier on low heat and hopefully that will help with your problem.

im not sure what to say except this may be a sign of allergies. my bf had allergies and when we met he constantly got them. he was also working in an environment where a bunch of ppl were using the same phone. this could have triggered it. make sure you keep your ears clean and try not to use public phones or share phones with a bunch of folks. sorry i cant help more ;|
his eventually stopped though,. again im not sure if it was because he got out that environment or because he was taking claritin for a long period (couple of years). he hasnt been taking the claritin for a while now but they havent returned either.

You may have to ask the doctor to drain the wax out of your ears. I wouldn't say that this is normal for everyone, but my sister had this problem around your age.

Ask your doctor about draining your ears, I think they do it like two or three times and then I dont remember her having to go back. Actually my mom had that too!

This is mostly for younger children, but ask your doctor about getting tubes put in your ears. It is a mild procedure. They are tubes that drain fluid out of your ears so it doesn't get infected. I had it done when i was younger and it worked well. Good luck
