Can adults get ear infections?

About 3 days ago I think I did some minor damage to my left eardrum, then yesterday I came down with a head cold. Now I am having consistant pain in my left ear. Is this probably an ear infection? I've tried looking up information on ear infections but nothing I can find seams to deal with adults. I'm 28.

Yes, we do. You don't want your eardrum to rupture. Get to a doctor.

Children are the most common sufferers because their Eustachian tubes (drain the inner ear to the throat) are smaller, aren't as sloped at a downward angle (as adults) and therefore can clog easier. If you have an external injury, don't hesitate to get help. I haven't found a safe over-the-counter product, you'll need a Prescription.

Adults can get ear infections. See a doctor.

Yes - it is possible. Particularly after swimming. However, it is not nearly as common as it is in youngsters.

Yes they can!

. Yes, adults can get ear infections.

Yes of course adults can get ear infections....you should ge to a doctor otherwise it's pobbible to loose your hearing.....you might have damaged your eardrum and that's something you have to live with the rest of your life

Yes. I don't think it happens as often but it does happen. You should go to your doctor for medicine. Meanwhile, take some tylenol.

check out your problem at the doctors, there are loads of conditions of the ear apart from infections, having a viral infection in your body will not help, but it may be something that can be cleared with antibiotics. go see the man. regards lf

you can definitely get an ear infection at any age.

How did you damage your eardrum, do you have any idea?

There is a passage from the back of the sinuses to the eardrum, so you can get an ear infection from a sinus infection, or vice versa.
I think the passage is called the Eustacian Tube.

If it's bacterial, Antibiotics will clear it up. If it's a Virus like a cold, then Antibiotics won't help much if at all.

good luck!

anyone can get infection maybe you ate something and not knowing that you were allergic to that

I am in my 50's and have had to have drainage tubes in my ears several times to releave pain and pressure. It can happen at most any age.
