Prone to ear infections..?

I am PRONE to ear infections after I've had a cold. I've tried to blow my nose as much as possible instead of sniffling up. Is there anything I can to to prevent getting an ear infection? I've missed so much this week with having my cold and I just cant risk missing anymore. Thanks.

Oh, and I already perferated (spelling?) my ear drum before too.

You can avoid places where people are smoking, for one. Cigarette smoke can keep your eustachian tubes from working properly.

-Stay away from people who have colds, if possible.
-Wash your hands regularly.
-Try not to touch your nose and eyes.

I agree that you should wash your hands quite a bit. When I have a cold, I find that my ears itch, and I stick my finger in there. I know I got one ear infection from this.

There is also a preparation you can buy in the store for swimmers ear. Look on the label. It may have either vinegar or alcohol in it. It is to put in your ears after swimming or bathing. It's purpose is to help evaporate any water trapped in the ear. Water trapped in the ear is a big cause of infection, and some people's ears swell a little on the inside when they have colds or sinus difficulties.
