Cure for Ear Infections?

Every year at this time I get an Ear Infection I go to the Doc he takes my money and gives me a prescription and thats it, never says anything about why, even if I ask, Ive heard Olive Oil could cure Ear Infections is that true or are there any other home remedies that work, so I can Avoid the Doctor....

Homeopathic Treatment for Earache :-

Sudden;due to exposure to dry cold wind Aconite 30 or 200, 2 hourly

Throbbing pain with redness of face;hot feeling;rush of blood towards head Belladonna 30, 2 hourly

Intolerable pain;worse by warmth,at night and after anger Chamomilla 30 or 200, 2 hourly

Severe pain in eustachian tubes;with acute cold;worse indoors and warmth Allium cepa 30 or 200, 2 hourly

Due to pressure in ears from collection of wax Spigelia 30 or 200, 10 min (3 Doses)

Due to sinusitis;stringy phelgm Kali bich.30 4 hourly

With thick yellowish discharge;better at cold place and cold open air Pulsatilla 30 or 200, 3 hourly

For External Use: Mullein Oil (Ear drops).

If it's always at the same time of year, then you can get a jump on it next year...

Keep your ears covered with earmuffs. Lots of ear infections in the winter due to cold air/wind blowing in. If it's really cold, or really windy, stuff some cotton in your ears before putting on the earmuffs.

Take 500mg of Vitamin C DAILY.

For the month you usually get the infection (ie- it generally hits sometime in December) take Echinacea. Be sure to buy pills made from the ROOT, as that is the only medicinal part (aerial, leaves, or whole plant should be avoided).

DON'T use olive oil, it will make it worse. I used to have constant ear infections as a child, and my mother tried olive oil once- that was the worst infection I ever had, it made the pain SPIKE like you wouldn't believe...

If you're near a health food store or herbal store, buy some mullein drops, these are excellent for ear infections.

I don't know of any home remedies. Wal*Mart does carry an over the counter ear drops. They work ok, but the one from the Dr. works better. I get ear infections atleast once every 2 mos. and my daughters are the same. When I go to the doctors, I tell them that I want the ear drops and I also want refills. The ear drops is what we live off of. When ever I feel like I have an ear infection, I immediately put the drops in and it is gone in 2 days. The ear drops have a numbing solution and it also fights the infection. Just make sure that you get the drops, they work wonders. Good Luck and I hope that it goes away soon!!

olive oil is good for your ears but i'm not sure if it will kill bacteria- i'm in australia and alot of surfers here have ear troubles and use a few drops of hydrogen peroide from the chemist - a few drops in each ear twice per day for several days- kills bacteria - it foams up and sounds funny but all muck comes out- use a cotton bud to remove gunk but don't force the bud down hard- be gentle- the ears are sensitive - you dont want to damage them- also dont do this if you have grommits or a hole in your ear drum _ called perforated ear drum. for obvious reasons. try it - I know several people that do this and swear it works.

have you ever heard of a product called water-babies. It is ear drops that dry up water in the inner ear, where water can get trapped and grown bacteria. My two youngest children were constanty at the doctor for ear infections and put on antibiotics...then the doctor concluded might be trapped water in the ear, and suggested the water babies...using it after showers , baths and swimming..no more infections

Olive oil can soothe the infection, but afterward the bacteria multiply and you're worse off. What you really want to do is dry out your ear to kill them off.

Use a Q-tip to add a few drops of vinegar or hydrogen peroxide to the infected ear, then lie down on your opposite side for about 5 minutes so it can work its way down to where the infection is. Afterward, tip your head the other way to let it come out and blot with a Kleenex.

If the infection is really bad it may sting a lot; if it's a milder one you may not feel much. There is also an over-the-counter drop called Similisan which works pretty well, and it soothes as it cures.

If the infection gets into your inner ear, you'll have to get an antibiotic, but try this first and see if it clears up. You might need to repeat the process if you have a cold - if your ear feels congested, keep doing this twice a day. When my infection gets so bad I can't treat it at home, I call my doctor and he will call in an antibiotic for me. Saves a doctor's bill, and amoxicillin is cheap.

When you have an ear infection immediately stop consuming all dairy. So many people have an allergy to milk but do not even know it. Also if you have a chiropractor going to be an adjustment will greatly help the infection go away. After getting an adjustment your immune system is boosted.
