depending on how bad it is, I put hydrogen peroxide in my ears at the first signs of itching or pain. For my children, I don't want to put anything in their ears, so I use EFT, or the Emotional Freedom Techniques. this has worked several times when the infection wasn't very far advanced. There is almost nothing as horrible as an ear infection. I don't believe there are any home remedies to STOP an ear infection. I would go to the E.R. and get anti-biotics and insist on a strong prescription pain killer.

At home I generally try to keep air from blowing in that ear and sometimes it's soothing to lay that ear on a heating pad.

You can go visit a doctor if its that bad.

Hydrogen Peroxide...I know it sounds crazy and I have not tried this, but my grandmother would put a small piece of garlic in hers while she slept. It has probiotics in it and fights infection. Also take a motrin or ibuprofen.

I 've heard the same thing mariamat heard from her grandmother, hydrogen peroxide. And my grandmother used sweet oil, available at the drug store. She would use a dropper and put a drop in the ear. But I always remember them using it on the first sign of an infection, before it had been going on for a long period of time. Like more than a week, then I would see a doctor.
