How can I treat my 15 month old daughters ear infections without antibiotics, shots, or tubes?

Before Christmas 2007, my daughter had never been sick. Since then, she has had two horrible ear infections which were incurable with oral antibiotics. she then was given the shot "rocephin" multiple times before it finally went away.she is now scheduled to have tubes in her ears. Is this the best choice of action?

Yes, you are doing the right thing. You dont want to damage her hearing by not having the surgery and allowing the infections to continue.

You can't. If you don't trust what your present doctor is telling you, by all means make an appointment for a second opinion. I probably would anyway before I had tubes put in. You never know, another doctor may have a different way of treating her infections.
But don't ignore them, or try something yourself. Ear infections are serious and can cause deafness...so get that second opinion.

all Dr's look for the instant cure don't do it ....after the first time of putting tubes in they will have to enlarge them as they replace each set and permanently damage her ears...I have 3 grown guys and dr's insisted to put tubes in my sons ears because the fluid biult up and there where no infections or pain I refused...he could not hear 1 tone that I could not hear my self thru testing until he reached high school...and he;s fine... I always had they kids bed raised at the head end so the mucus could drain ,more easily and even the mattress in the crib was raised about an angle of 3 in up at the head...helped greatly.........

Tubes are no problem my son had the same thing..needed the tubes, I too worried but the pain he was going through...perforated eardrums hurt!!! That is a build up of fluid behind the ear drums, can cause a hole in the ear drum when the pressure can get to much. Never had any problems after getting the tubes.

My kids had such bad ear and throat infections when they were small. Finally I took them to an Ear,Nose, and Throat specialist and had their tonsils and adenoids removed. What a difference. They rarely got any type of ear or throat infection after that. Just the normal occasional ear ache or sore throat.
