Are Ear Infections Contagious? |
Recently my 1 year old had a fever that would not go away after 24 hours, come to find out he has an ear infection, well now my 3 year old has a fever. Could it be possible that my 1 year old passed on a ear infection to my 3 year old? Generally, it's not. Ear infection generally comes from an upper airway infection, usually from the throat or nasal passages. The eaustacian tube (canal that connects the throat to the middle ear) makes this possible. Could be that your toddler had an upper airway infection and possibly transferred the culprit bug to your 3 year old before he had the ear infection. Ear infections themselves aren't contagious (at least as far as I know), but if the ear infection was the by-product of a virus, like a cold or flu, then that virus would be contagious. Good luck, mommy. Sick kids are a bummer. no, an ear infection is definitly not contagious No, ear infection's are not contagious. LIttle one's are prone for more fever's that cause's infections. |
