I am living with constant dizziness - Do you or someone that you know have an inner ear problem? |
Does anyone have labyrinthitis or vestibular neuritis (both are inner ear disorders). I have had vestibular neuritis for over 2 years, wondering if anyone has ever had short or long term bouts of either condition (or know of anyone who has). I've had neither one and I feel for you. It's probably not very common but interesting for doctors to evaluate. A friend of mine has a skin layer that keeps growing over her eardrum. She goes in periodically to have the skin 'shaved' off. It's painful and not very comfortable. I recommended she see another neurologist and she did. She was perscribed some meds - they put some silverstuff around the edges of the growth after 'shaving' it and it's been over 8 months. She's doing fine. Best of luck to you! Does the room start spinning the second you move and then keep spinning faster and faster? My mother and I both have this prob. My mom has gotten treatment for it in the past. I personally haven't but I found that if I focus on one object the spinning will stop. I haven't ever been diagnosed with either prob. I just know i have something wrong. If you believe Psychic, Sylvia Brown, it's because Earth's magnetic axis is moving. You are in tuned with the world and are picking up on these sensations. Feel better, now? i have had dizziness for a week now so went to the doctor today and she told me i had labyrinthitis.its not a nice feeling. I had unexplained vertigo that comes and goes at any given time. I just wake up one morning and its there. It may last just a couple of days or up to weeks. It usually occurs when lying down, sitting up or moving your head a certain way. The ear, nose and throat specialist could not find anything wrong with me. He explained how the cilia?, which are the tiny hairs inside the drum could be disrupted somehow. He said all it takes is for one of those little fiber optic hairs to get out of sync with the natural flow of fluid in the drum to upset the apple cart...so to speak. He used the example of water in a bucket and if you were to put your hand in there and swirl it around, getting the water to go all the same direction......it would be like something disrupting the natural flow if you were to go back the other direction with the water. The same effect happens when the cilia gets out of whack with it's natural flow in the drum causing dizziness. It's just something I"ll have to live with. |
