What questions should I ask my Doc and what tests should I demand?

For about 2-3 months now, I have had a hard swollen lymph node in my neck on the right side. I also have moveable nodes in my neck on the left side. One hard one on the left side under ear lobe area. I had CBC done with EBV as extra. Results are:my reds are high and I have EBV. For approx 2 months, I have also had (on the left side only) rib pain, exactly to the left and right under the left rib front and back.Recently, this pain has become worse. I had a chest xray done-results of that were absolutely perfect.Obviously, in the chest xray report, there was no mention as to any lymph nodes, etc. Doc didn't notice any other lymph nodes except the 1 hard one in my neck. My Uncle died from Non-Hodgkin's. Should I be worried and what should I ask my Doc to do? Also, no infections found. Thank you.

Well if you are having any sort of left sided chest pain you should be ruled out for a MI (heart attack). You can have blood tests for this-- called cardiac enzymes. You would also want an EKG done. I would also get at least a CT scan of your chest if not a MRI. As for your neck, I would have that scanned as well given your family history. If your not happy with your MD, get a second opinion! it is your life after all. Good luck

red blood cell count could be elevated from simply dehydration. higher elevation or certain drugs can also causes this. Diseases that produce hypoxia (lack of oxygen) also cause inc. RBC's, such as a congenital heart disease. I dont know much about epstien barr Report It
