Is there a drug for urinary tract infection like E. coli ? |
I felt sensations in my urinary tract ,went to see the doctor .He did a couple of test and said I had staphylococcus aures ,i took "Gentamicin injections" treatment for it but about a week later i started getting thesame sensations, I went back to my doctor ,at first he said perhaps its because i already got used to having the sensations and it probably got ingrained in my head ,that i should give it time. But after 2 weeks i still felt thesame tingly sensation he performed another test but this time E. coli and staphylococcus showed up in the test results. Well he gave me some drugs but i dont think they worked because i still feel this sensations. Those anyone outthere have a suggestion as to how to treat this I agree with above. There should be a sensitivity to medications to bacteria that were present in your last sample...presumably your doctor has that information and selected the antibiotic accordingly. If you continue to have symptoms then you should have a follow-up urinalysis to verify that you are free of an on-going infection. If you are clear then there is an entity called "interstitial cystitis" Essentially an inflammatory process where the patient feels like there is an infection but none exists. There are analgesics effective for the urethra...discuss it with your medical provider. When I did have a UTI my doctor put me on antibiotics. Ina couple a days it should go away. SO ask for that next time you go. If it is really bothersome there is an even stronger one that begins with an L I believe..sorry dont know the name. Read up on how to prevent UTIs and cranberry juice helps also.. most UTIs are caused by E. Coli; occasionally strains can be drug resistant. or it just might not have gone away completely with this treatment. just go back to the doctor and he'll give you something else. they can do a culture and test which drugs are effective if it doesnt go away after round 2. Gentamicin is an antibiotic, as are the other drugs i presume you were prescribed. I'd go get rechecked and if you still have it your doctor will probably prescribe a different course of antibiotics. |
