E. coli is a bacteria that is naturally found in your digestive tract. It is the most common cause of UTI's, because the end of your digestive tract and the end of your urinary tract is so close together. I know this sounds nasty, but its the truth -- E. coli comes out when you poop and it sometimes can make its way into your urethra and bladder. It sounds like you originally had a bladder infection and your antibiotic didn't clear it up, so the bacteria continued to move into your kidneys. http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/kudiseases/p... R u wondering where the kidney infection came from or how the e.coli got in there?Since the meds didnt help the UTI it developed into kidney infection. As for the e.coli it can be from wiping back to front after pooping. Its possible you may have to go into the hospital to get it fully treated. Go back to the money grubbing ER tonight, there is something wrong. If they don't admit you, make sure you call either a urologist or infectious disease dr next week. You are very sick! Make no mistake about it. The antibiotics are not working. Go to the ER now! if a kidney infection is allowed to progress for a long time sepsis may result, which happens when the bacteria load in the kidneys builds up the the point that bacteria are being shunted into the bloodstream along with filtered blood. if it's bad enough for you to be admitted you will have to eat the financial loss, sepsis (blood infection) is life-threatening and you definitely don't want it to get that far. also make sure you are following the medicine instructions to the letter and that you are not taking anything else that might interfere with the antibiotic |
