What causes vaginal e coli? Also, what is it? An infection?

Vaginal e-coli is just a way of saying you have the bacteria e-coli in your vagina. It should not be there and is not a normal bacteria found in the vagina. If you happen to get a Urinary tract infection any time soon It is probably going to be caused by the e-coli. You generally get e-coli there from wiping back to front when you use the bathroom, instead of wiping front to back. You also get it from wearing thong underware that are too tight because they rub and transfer bacteria. Thongs should be loose fitting and should no indent your skin anywhere. You can also get it from having anal sex and then vaginal sex. If you have anal sex you should not allow the male to reenter the vagina at any time afterward. Even if he just made an attempt at it. The e-coli is an infection. It is a bacterial infection and it can be cured with some antibiotics.

E coli - I understand - is a bacteria that lives in our intestines. It comes out in our feces, and, thus, can be transmitted to our urethra (end of the bladder) or vagina. If it gets to the urethra, it can cause urinary tract infection (UTI). I don't know what it does if it gets to the vagina.

I know if another organism that lives in our intestines, candida fungus (yeast), gets to our vaginas, it can cause vaginitis (yeast infection.) www.hufa.org has some basic info about yeast infestations at the yeast link.

E. coli is a normal part of the intestinal flora of people- it is not normal for the vagina. E. coli, or Escherichia coli, is a rod shaped bacterium, there are many different strains, or varieties (kind of like different breeds of dog) and only some of them cause disease. But, if it colonizes a tissue or area it is not supposed to be in, like in the vagina or the urethra, it can cause disease symptoms. You can get it from not wiping properly if you are a girl, having anal sex and not cleaning properly before having vaginal intercourse, using a sex toy in the same way and not having properly cleaned it, or you might just be susceptible to infection from a lowered immune system.

It is a blood/liver disease and it is caused by having unprotected sex with someone that has this most cases it starts or occurs when persons engage in annal sex while at the same time virginal sex. Like when two men have sex with same women same time without a condom. Or one man does this without first cleaning himself off, Or two men engaging in this sort of thing and bring it back to the women by having sex w/her. Not a good thing to engage oneself in.
