Although our stomach secretes Hydrochloric acid , but then too we suffer from many infections, why so ?

It is said that we may loose our finger if we dip it in our stomach's secretion of very low pH value, i.e. Hydrochloric acid , but then too E. coli 0157 sort of organisms attack our digestive tract and we get infected.... BUT WHY ?

Many microorganisms can handle that level of acid without too much trouble for a few hours. Their cell walls are designed to withstand acid. I'm not sure just how. They may actually require the acid to activate them. There are many parasites which can do the same thing.

Similarly, there are some microorganisms which can survive high temperatures, high pH, etc.

bacteria such as Helicobacter pylori have urease enzyme which breakdown urea to NH3 and CO2 and with NH3 can neuralize gasteric acid and this characteristic give enough time to bacteria for migeration with its flagella to submucosal tissue of stomach which have non acidic pH,another bacterias can escape from gasteric acid with their flagellae and under protection of their capsule.
