Multiple sclerosis symptoms? Spina bifida, kidney failure, other health problems?

My husband &I are really worried. He is 42 years old &born w/spina bifida. He has always been mobile &worked hard at his job. He lost a kidney @ 4y.o. and now his remaining kidney is loosing more function (about 40%). He also has a urostomy and has issues w/bowels. He is dx w/high blood pressure, controlled with medication. Recently,2-wks ago), he was admitted into the hospital for extremely high fever btw 104 &106. His body had produced an e-coli infection that zapped him. He lost function of his kidney from 56% to 40%. He was extremely dehydrated &was swollen in the face to where his eyes were almost swollen shut. We think this is bc his kidney wasn't filtering due to the infection. On Monday of this past week, he felt so much better &went back to work. His nephrologist &urologist are just monitoring him bc he is doing well w/those functions. Our concern is that his legs are like jello& twitch @ night, his balance is off, his hands are numb&trembling, he is sooo fatigued& has a hard

time w/even simple activities. Is there a concern to get checked for MS? Can you have Spina bifida and MS? Thank you for your help and knowledge.

I have had MS for 10 years and his symptoms could be MS but they could also be caused by something else. Is he using any products with artificial sweeteners? If so, stop immediately because these can poison you and mimic MS. You'd be surprised what products have artificial sweeteners in them these days. I can't chew any gum at all anymore because all of them are using some form of artificial sweetener even if they are not sugarless. Read labels and make sure he isn't ingesting any of them. If it turns out he has MS this is especially important because it will just aggravate the symptoms. I'm truly sorry he has been dealing with so many medical issues. I know how hard it can be dealing with MS and just the issues it alone causes.

I think if I were your husband, I would go to a completely new set of doctors. With all his problems, I cannot believe that his doctors are not doing anything for him except "monitering" him. He needs a total, complete, totally new medical work-up from specialists.
