Does anyone suffer with Dystonia.?

My wife has been diagnosed with dystonia, she is currently having botox injections in the affected muscles. Some days she finds even the easiest of tasks to be hard.Is there any helpful tips you can pass on to help.I know there is no cure but to make life that little bit easier would be a help.It would also help to hear other sufferers stories. Thanks.

You didn't say what type of dystonia she has. I have cervical dystonia and get botox injections every 3-4 months in my neck. It does wonders for me. I also take Mysoline for the dystonia and Inderal for tremors. I'm sure you must be seeing a neurologist, hopefully one who specializes in movement disorders. When I have bad days, Aleve seems to help. I know that's not much help, but maybe if she is really bad, your doctor may consider dbms. That seems pretty drastic, but I hear when it works, it's great.

If you haven't already, check out this link: http://www.dystonia.org.uk/index.html It might be worth giving them a call to find out the different ways that you can help and support your wife. Best of luck to you both.
