Do you know about dystonia? |
It's involuntary movements of the muscles. Involuntary movements and prolonged muscle contraction, resulting in twisting body motions, tremors, and abnormal posture. It may involve the whole body or only an isolated area. It can be inherited, may occur sporadically without any genetic pattern, may be associated with medications (antipsychotic drugs) or may be a symptom of certain diseases (lung cancer). Dystonia (literally, "abnormal muscle tone") is a generic term used to describe a neurological movement disorder involving involuntary, sustained muscle contractions. Dystonia may affect muscles throughout the body (generalised), in certain parts of the body (segmental), or may be confined to particular muscles or muscle groups (focal). |
