I've had Bronchitis recently, & it's not going away even though I took antibiotics?

I aquired it around the 11th of February. I took the antibiotics a week after I got sick for ten days. Just as my doctor prescribed. It pretty much stopped the wetter, productive coughs, but I still cough frequently regardless.

I'm an active person; so I hate being not able to work out to my fullest extent; or at all, & this coughing & dyspnea makes it hard for my vocal studies. It's starting to cause a real problem for me.

If you have any suggestions they would be much obliged.

Thank-you.

Just for the record, it's only acute Bronchitis. It's not chronic.

This winter I know more then a few people who've had the cold, then the cough. Some turned into Bronchitis, went on antibiotics
(two rounds of it). They start feeling better then it comes back again. And the coughing lingers so long. Even my friends and family who have never had a cold go to the chest before have had that problem this year. I say load yourself with Vit C at the first signs. I always do that (about 1,000 mgs. a day) and it usually knocks out whatever I'm coming down with. Don't over exert and get a lot of sleep if you can. Get well.

I had acute bronchitis. After two years of coughing,t hey switched the diagnosis to chronic and put me on Albuterol. Problem solved.

This may not be the case with you. You can still have a lingering cough for quite awhile. My stepmom just finished her second round of antibiotics and she still has a cough, same diagnosis as you.

You have bronchitis (inflammation of the airways) you could possibly benefit from an inhaler or bronchodiolator like albuterol or combivent. They are prescription only so it will mean a trip to the doctor but it will probably help.

cough is especially common in the winter, and can last weeks due to sinus drainage, and drip...the cough may not be the bronchitis but a secondary infection like a sinus infection clearing up...this is the same thing my whole family is dealing with right now...it's been 3 weeks with the cough....my suggestion would be 1 to call the doctor just to make sure all infection is cleared up, and 2 try taking benadryl..it will temporarily dry any drainage up, so if that is the problem you should know in about an hour after taking one.
