May i ask something...what can i do when i am suffering from dysmenorrhea...i feel like i am going to die? |
when i feel it...especially at work... I'm past all that now, but I had some problems when I was younger, including cramps that were worse than labor pains. Now they are saying that one of the causes can be elevated prostaglandin levels : "Growing evidence suggests that the pathogenesis of primary dysmenorrhea is due to prostaglandin F2alpha (PGF2alpha), a potent myometrial stimulant and vasoconstrictor, in the secretory endometrium (Willman, 1976). " Just to be sure we're talking about the same thing -- dysmenorrhea means a painful menstrual period. There are a number of medicines you can buy over-the-counter. The one that helps most women is ibuprofen. It's a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and there are several available if for some reason this doesn't give you some relief. You can increase the dosage until you find the right one to give you relief. |
