How do I get rid of physical discomforts during menstruation? like rashes, dysmenorrhea, menstrual cramps, etc

I am 17 years old and I have been menstruating since 11. I started experiencing menstrual cramps since highschool (starting when i was 12). And now that i am in college, the discomfort can be very inconvenient. I am not able to concentrate in class because of the pain, and I always feel better when I lie down in bed and rest. I do not want to do this for the rest of my life, it can ruin my grades, and my future career. I experience menstrual cramps on the first day of menstraution, and the pain usually lasts for one whole day. And I also get these reddish rashes on my butt canal... paired with rashes at the back of my knee. They appear a few days before my menstruation, and then disappear after my period. I use pads, am I allergic to pads? Is this the reason why I get diaper rashes? They're very itchy....! Should I switch to tampons? Please help me. btw, the rashes became worse (became itchier) when i started getting orgasms (due to the discovery of making out) Is there a connection?

oh by the way, during the first day of my period last month, I started having these cramps again. But my boyfriend was there, and I told him to massage the area... it offered relief. And there was also one time when the cramps got worse I had to be accompanied home from school... One of my usually classmates jokingly said that I'm having cramps because I lack sex. He said it was therapeutic. But we both know he's just kidding. well, my boyfriend accompanied me home. The place was empty, so we made out... and guess what, I got a bit relieved. I took some ibuprofen and the pain lessened as well. does this mean that getting horny plus orgasms can offer relief for menstrual cramps? sex must be really therapeutic. and my horny classmate was unintentionally right after all.. hehhe

When I was young like you I had terrible terrible cramps too and people just don;t believe us, but I believe every word. here's my advice. First switch to tampons and change them every 4-5 hours, less mess and no skin irritation.

Second, consult with a Dr about getting a prescription level of Naproxin or discuss the option of taking more than the recommended amount on the label of Aleve. this is the only drug that helped me, BUT with higher dosages, your blood pressure and heart rate can raise too, so please ask your doctor first. My cramps were so bad, this is the solution we came up with.

Third, get a vibrator to use on the outside to have quick orgasms on your own during your worst cramps. When you are using tampons, there is no mess from this...

Last, over the years my periods have gotten easier to where I do not take anything at all for them and all my friends who had it easy in their teens as going through what we did now. i am 40 and they started easing up when I was 30 or so.

see a doctor on this matter and use advil for the cramps?

Try taking the birth control pill to alleviate the cramping. The rashes may be something you need to address with your OB/GYN.

have you tried taking painkillers for your cramps and pains? But the best solution is consulting a doctor

see a doctor. try drinking hot tea with honey in it to lessen the cramps or take ibuprofen. ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory and helps reduce the swelling which reduces the cramps. but, really, if its that bad see a doctor.

For the cramps use pain killers of some form (there are normally some specially made for women and aim to deal with menstruation pain including cramps, back pain etc) and with the rash start using a moisturiser and try changing pads more often if doesnt improve you could try switching to tampons.

As you get older the pains wont stop but will lessen all you can do is ride it out I'm afraid

pads sometimes rub and that will cause irritation and itching just use tampons theyre the best (lilets) you can get tablets called ponstan of the doctor for cramps, i used to get really bad cramps, try some sudocream from the chemist its for babys butts and its great for loads of things, just put some on yer butt and it will releave it and rub some on yer rash on yer legs, itll clear it really quickly

Thanks for much of insight and good writing. You have expressed it rightly. Although many of my Girl friends complaints about it. But never got to know the detail. But since its natural pain with many girls nothing can be done till you are going to have a baby.

I am not sure but this is what I have heard from my GFs. If the problem is persist Please consult a doc.
But i dont think its will be cured except your rest and other things.

NO IT DOES NOT. all women get these pains well nearly all. and some get more pains than the other.
but what you need is to get to the doctors he or she will give you a prescription for tablets for your pain and also see too the rashes to.
all this has jack shittt to do with sex if anything would make things worse.
any women who has problems with any of this kind of stuff .
needs to see doctors you know their are all causes of cancers. please see a doctor. and often.

Hey, first of all yes, orgasms DO relieve menstrual cramps!!!

Have you tried the self adhesive heating pads you can buy? You usually find them in pharmacies next to the sanitary products, you just stick them onto your stomach and they heat up which can help with the pain. Gentle exercise can help with cramps as well.

If you have really bad period pains, you could consider going on the contraceptive pill, this reduces blood flow and pain significantly in the majority of women. If you don't want to use hormonal methods to relieve the pain, you can get other tablets from your doctor, either mefenamic acid or tranexamic acid. Both help with pain, and tranexamic acid in particular helps reduce flow.

As far as the rashes go, it's unlikely to be a reaction to the pads if the rash appears before your period starts, it's more likely to be linked to the hormone levels at that time. You could try using an antiseptic soothing cream like sudocrem, which is designed for diaper rash!
