? dyslexia? Dyslexics Untie! Dyslexia refers to a different learning style for reading and writing not associated with obvious problems such as bad eyesight, poor hearing, low intelligence or behavioral problems. The term Dyslexia means 'difficulty with the lexicon'. Although it can be caused by brain damage (usually referred to as 'Alexia'), the majority of Dyslexics show no evidence of brain trauma. It is believed that Dyslexia is the result of developmental differences in the brain. Studies have shown that often there are other family members who show and have shown similar difficulties, which suggests a genetic or developmental cause of the condition. Dyslexia, as a condition, can show a pronounced difference between individuals, from being very mild to severe. It is not restricted to childhood but can continue throughout a persons life. Nor is it restricted to one sex. Male Dyslexics, however, may show different symptoms to females. Dyslexics may also show a difference depending on which written language they are using, (for example there may be a difference between a Dyslexic who uses English to one who uses Japanese). what about it? !ylno htam ni dlot saw I Yes, but no one seems to notice unless I am sick or very tired. THANKS MOM! When the doctor figured out that my IQ was above average, he pretty much told my Mom to tell my teacher to blow it out her barracks bag, I wasn't as dumb as the LA public school system made me out to be. My Mom put in a lot of hard work to get me to this point and I will always be grateful. The 70's was not a good time to have a learning handicap. I have a funny story to tell about dyslexia. I'm 21 years old, and I didn't know I had dyslexia until I was 16. Someone had pointed it out to me when they saw me write my sevens. They had asked me if I was dyslexic, and I had to think about it for a moment, because I forgot about it. |
