Dyslexia!!?

Well heres the deal. All through school i had a really hard time with all my classes, especialy math. They finaly came to the conclusion that i had ADD, but that was fairly obvious. But now that i am adult im finding thother things that effect my learning and what-not. For instance when im reading i have a tendency to read certain sounds or words backwords. I have been looking around on the internet and i think i have dyslexia. What should i do? Is this going to effect my work life or anything? Should i talk to a doctor but are they going to do? Any suggestions?

It is a bit late in life, but yes, you CAN get help for it still. I would call a psychologist's office and ask if they either have support for dyslexia or if they can refer you to a doctor/clinic that does.

It'll require some retraining of your brain, but it's possible. The best thing going for you is that you've learned to cope with it so far.

There isn't a whole lot anyone can do but you. You have to take your time and go a little slower. I know that is hard with our rushed lives. Take time, slow down. You'll get it right the first time if you will just take your time.

My husband is dyslexic. We have been married 20 years. He does much better when he slows down.

Hi I only found out I was dyslexic in my 40's, also found out have dyspraxia and aspergers and its never to late to find out and get help. There is lots of help out there. I have a web site Aspergers Parallel Planet www.asplanet.info, but also lots of information about dyslexia on forum under associated learning difficulties, have basic assessment test there and also lots of relevant links on my site for dyslexia. Its there just to help raise awareness and understanding., But really not sure what part of world your from can just search on web site funder dyslexia include this year so get information from up todate site and of course country. I,m in New Zealand, but some great sites in the UK and USA.l Good luck with your search finding answers and do not leave it as long as I did, finding out and being diagnosed even in my 40's has totally changed my life around, even have a tutor to teach me the correct way now, never never to late.
