Borderline Dyslexia? I'm so confussed!?

There are times when I can read something and see the #'s 123 perfectly fine, but most of the time when I read something I can't prononce BIG words or read something without having to go over it twice, and then there are times I DO see 123 as 132 ect.... I don't know if this could be borderline dyslexia, or if your always suppose to see flipped #'s & letters because I dont' ALWAYS see the flipped 123's but I do always have a hard time with big words and stuff. IT's so embarrssing! So is this a deep dyslexia or Borderline dyslexia?

You might have Reading Disorder (as definined by the DSM-IV). Have you even been tested by a psychologist?

Reading Disorder and other learning disorders are generally diagnosed in school by psychological examiner.

Dyslexia is considered an abnormality of brain function and should only be diagnosed by a medical doctor (preferably a neurologist).

The terms Reading Disorder and Dyslexia are often used interchangably. But, if someone tests with reading problems on a psychological test it doesn't always prove they have a brain abnormality.

I never heard of "Borderline Dyslexia" or "Deep Dyslexia" but I think "borderline dyslexia" might be a different way of saying "Reading Disorder."

If you look up "borderline dyslexia" in the International Classification of Diseases, you won't find anything, but there will be listings for Reading Disorder and Dyslexia.

Possibilities

One of the ADHDs

One of the many epilepsies (petit mal/absence/complex partial, etc.)

Side-effect of subtle brain injury/concussion

A type of dyslexia, etc.

Also, mild dyspraxia in some persons

Also, possible CAPD (Central Auditory Processing Disorder)
in some persons

Other

There are a few cases where the right medicine can temporarily stabilize vision and improve a few aspects of memory temporarily. The weakest agent known to do this for a few persons (not everyone) is coffee - caffeine compounds.

A med does not work for everyone.

Good luck.

No one here can make that determination...a doctor has to do with with several different diagnostic tests. Even something that looks very much like one thing could really be another...there are so many variables that it's impossible to tell without proper testing.

Make sure you go to a psychologist that has experience in administering these types of tests, especially in adults.
