How many people have dyslexia on here? When did you know you had it? |
I kinda thought i might have dyslexia cause sometimes I mess up words or when i read i change the sentance. But maybe its just a mistake i make. But then today i had to a friend to read over my essay like i wrote it so i know what it all ment. But she was reading it and fixing the erros and she was like maybe Candice you have dyslexia cause the words are all jumbled and in the wrong spot.. I dont know really it makes me wonder, so do any of you have it? and when did you know? and what did you do? I too have dyslexia. I was diagnosed 32 years ago. I had almost 7 years of weekly tutoring. My words and my letters often get jumbled. I find it is better to take my time, and use the computer to type things out. Spell check helps with the twisted letters, and reading and rereading, and if very important, I get someone else to read. You are very lucky to have such a nice friend to read your essay. I also have a problem with directions. I have to write down directions, and read it, and reread it. I have to use those directions, over and over again. If I don't go to that place in say 6 months, I can't remember how to get there. I also had/have problems with remembering numbers, like locker combinations, school bus numbers, phone numbers. I can't remember lists, like cheese burger-no onions, hamburger-extra pickles, spicy chicken- extra spice, and two diet cokes, and a partridge in a pear tree. (just kidding bout the partridge).I had an incredible hard time in high school, I would answer you but I need you to rewrite it backwards so that I can understand it first! thanks...god, it took me forever to type this correctly! hdpdhf hgfd pweoir ios[dfu as if!!! my first grade teacher thought i was low performance (insert short bus) from grading assignments i had done but was confused because to talk to me i was well above average. she started testing me and figured out i was dyslexic. we started working on it right then and i have it pretty well under control. it'll get more acute with numbers generally as a person ages. talk to your educators about testing for it and how to work with it |
