Is there any brain exercises that can help dyslexia?

i'm pretty sure that i have been struggling with slight dyslexia for years. i have always been embarressed to read infront of people every since kindergarden praying that the teacher wouldn't call on me to read. because i am slow, i studder and i'm not a great speller. when it comes to big words or even small ones sometimes that i am not completely familar with my mind goes crazy and i start questioning every single word i look at. even simple words i start questining and they dont look right anymore. i break out in sweats when i read because its so stressfull.
i discovered this might be dyslexia when i started working in a doctors office. all of the charts were numbered. (3456) (4345) and so forth. it was my job to do the filing at the office...lets pretend we lost a chart (3456)
we coudln't find it anywhere.. we would look for it under... (4356) and find it there... my brain would swtich the numbers around and i would file it in the wrong spot. can anyone help?

thanks for the game idea. i might try that out. it seems like a good way to exsersise without feeling like your 'working' reading is 'work' to me. i think i would like to read if i didn't have such a hard time with it. i think i also need glasses so this could be part of the problem as well.. but simple left right up and down games seem reasonable and helpful. thanks mucho.

Get a video game or computer game that is similar to the old 'Space Invaders' game on the original Atari. Play this for at least an hour every day, and then read for two hours afterwards.
The game 'drops' the targets down from left to right and they 'march' in that order very regularly, so that it's 'difficult' to shoot them if you have dyslexia ... the more you concentrate on hitting the targets, the more your brain learns 'left to right, top to bottom' which is the way we read books. I KNOW this works ... my oldest son had dyslexia, and I noticed an improvement in his 'reading' and 'tracking the letters' right after he'd played for an hour ... so I gave him 'game time' as therapy, and he now can read anything quite well. If he starts to 'mix up' the letters, he just plays a game and gets his 'reading chops' back.

I would say that it is Dyslexia, because I do that same thing. I always hatted to read and spell in school. I was told I had it by a Doctor when I was in College.

Some of the things they told me to do to help with spelling was Write sort story's on the computer and check spelling and make a list of world that I would not no how to spell like Numbers that I would put on a check and cheap it in my check book to look back on when I needed it.

For number's I found Sudoku books works. and if there is problems then write it down or ask someone the number before putting it a why. I have done that more than I can count with peahens Drugs so I write the caret nub-er on there chart.

If you would even just like to talk about it email me at conmel77@hotmail.com
