I think i have Dyslexia? |
I'm Little worried i think i have Dyslexia. Im 23 years old. Im currently having problems with my college course and I'm a little concerned. I'm fine with reading however my writing is terrible other people find it hard to read, my spelling isn't too great either on the other hand its not disastrous. What I'm most worried about is sometimes i have problems interperating what other people say particually my tutor, another thing having problems with is remembering everyday things my short term memory is terrible i find myself having to right things down just so i dont forget. I cant remember my alphabet very well i have to recite the whole thing just to remember where a certain letter goes. And I cant disguish verbally between the word three and free they both sound the same to me. Should i get tested. And i had to vigously check what i wrote to make sure i didnt make too many mistakes. I dont know what to do im beginning to think im thick. I have a brother who has been tested for and diagnosed as dyslexia. I think if you feel you maybe dyslexia you should get tested. Not being funny but as we can't see your writing it is difficult to comment. My brother's writing was not just difficult to read it was the actually word and letter they were strange. He can't fill in forms for instance at a job interview. Dyslexics are often bright people who just don't have the writing capability to academically achieve and they often miss on an education through lack of awareness of the condition. It will do no harm at all for you to be tested, if it isn't dyslexia then you can explore other possibilities for the difficulties you feel you are having. Good luck. PS, I can't spell for toffee and I'm not dyslexic. You may be a little dyslexic, or perhaps spelling is just your weakness? I'm currently having the same problem but with maths. Check it out on wikipedia, that might help you out. If you're really worried get tested and ask for some support at college. good luck. get yourself a nintendo ds and that brain training game and you'll be fine! If you typed this question, it doesn't look like you have dyslexia judging by the way it was well written. Dyslexia is when you mix letters up in words when you read or write. Elementary teachers usually detech dyslexia. You might just want to go to the doctor because it seems like you're suffering from something else. Did you ever have a brain injury? And your bad spelling could just be because you can't spell that great.. There are a lot of people that have problems spelling. i am 24 and have dyslexia and i rubbed along fine there is a website for dyslexics go to google and type in dyslexia and this web site will come up you can do an online test or you can speak to your tutors and get tested but try not to worry it is not the end of the world quiet common actually |
