Does dyslexia effect the memory? |
my son is dyslexic & has a very bad memory. Are these two things connected yes, they are intertwined so its normal, dont worry I think dyslexia has only got to do with not being able to read correctly, you should take him to the doctor if you are concerned I don't remember There is lots of information on dyslexia at this website. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyslexia The people that I have known in the past that had dyslexia had pretty good memorys. It is possible that it is a different affliction all together. About the only way that I can think that dyslexia would affect memory is just in the acqusition of facts from reading materials and converting that to memory would be a slower process than non-dyslexics. hi . I have often found that people with dylexia develop their memory to make up for the difficulty they have in reading. Instead of writing things down they remember them, using little tricks they often invent themselves. Yep, so is colour blindness (my boyfriend has all three)people suffering from it mostly forget names, but are very intelligent otherwise. The drs worked with me when I was very young. It won't go away but people with disablites, we just have to work a little harder. There's nothing wrong with your son no worries. No, I don't believe it does, it just affects the process the brain goes through to get the eye and hand coordination for reading and writing. I think that's right. Susan Hampshire the actress id Dyslexic - she had to learn all her lines from a recording or someone reading them to her. So clearly it didn't affect her memory. my daughter has dyslexia and also ADD(attention deficiency disorder) i know these two thing are connected. she always seems in a daydream because she can`t keep her attention on 1 thing. try and get a specialist to see her and ask about ADD. on it duzznt. yes right brain side yes it does, my son is dyslexic and he is for ever forgetting things, i read about it somewhere as well. It said that a dyslexics way of arranging things will usually be different to other peoples views of what looks right |
