What is tardive dyskinesia? |
i heard this could be triggered by psychiatric drugs such as haloperidol Of course, a psychiatrist would be the best person to ask, but I'm willing to throw in my two cents :D google it. you will get much more info on there then on here. it will also be more acurate. go to Mercks.com Tardive Dyskinesia is a severe side effect to certain medications. Unfortunately there is no effective treatment and the patient experiences uncomfortable and uncontrollable movements. It is considered an extrapyramidial effect which is centered in the central nervous system. Haloperidol is definitely one of the medications that carries the highest risk. Your physician needs to monitor you very closely to ensure that your levels of medication/or a reaction to them, do not cause this effect. |
