Is there any ayurvedic treatment for a baby of 2 years suffering from chronic amoebic dysentery?

If you are able to access an ayurvedic doctor, he/she will be able to answer your question. Online consultation is not advisable. Same applies to homeopathy too. If you cannot access such alternative health professionals personally, better to stick to normal allopathic doctors, preferably children's specialist.

A hole that is too small in the nipple of a bottle can cause the baby to take in air. Too large a hole in the nipple of a bottle can cause diarrhea because the baby gets too much formula at once.

In the case of diarrhea, a 2-ounce water loss in a 7-pound baby is equal to a 2-quart loss in a 170-pount adult. Bottle fed babies are more prone to diarrhea than breast fed babies due to the lack of bacterial antibodies. If the infant produces a green stool, this is a sign that the intestinal contents have come through too quickly for the bile to do its work. If baby develops enteritis (bacterial diarrhea), he may have rings around his eyes, pale colored skin, hands and fingers may be white in color. Overfeeding can bring on diarrhea, and too much fat in the diet can make stool flat and create a foul odor. Excessive starch and sugar will cause a sour smell to stool. It will also have a frothy look to it.

An ounce of prevention is worth a point of cure! Restoration of SBOs and lacto-bacteria is essential.

Amoebic dysentry is caused by a monocellular organism, called Entamoeba histolytica found in water. In fecal contaminated water the amoeba are found as cysts (somewhat like egg). By drinking such water, these cysts reach the human intestine and grow into active organisms. They cause tiny ulcers in the intestine and are the cause of blood and mucus mixed loose stools-called amoebic dysentery. Some people have many amoebe in their intestine and they may be termed as chronic amoebic carriers. In such people they loose stools need not be always blood mixed. At times the amoebe travel to the liver and might cause abscess there.

There are very effective medicines to treat this problem and it is curable. Recurrent infection is possible by drinking contaminated water. It is also possible that some person in the family (especially maid servant or the cook whose health is often neglected), harvesting these organisms as chronic carriers and repeatedly infecting other people.

In babies the loose stools may be because of several reasons and need not be always due to amoebic infestations. At times small children are allergic to some food stuffs or having what is termed as malabsorption syndrome. You may consult a good paediatic specialist, get the stool examined in good laboratory and be sure what the problem is. If it is amoebic infection, let the baby have a proper course of treatment. Most important is to take care of the water and other feeds you give to the baby. The water used for drinking and prepare the cold drinks should be always boiled for atleast ten minutes before cooling it for use. This will prevent so may water borne diseases. A course of anti-amoebis treatment for other members of the family is also worth considering.

Hi Dear Friend,

The treatment for amoebic dysentery is available in ayurveda and it has good results even in a child of 2 years.

I assume that the diagnosis for this disease is already established by pathological investigation of stool.

I can't prescribe you as I provide this service over my website here..

You should observe hygienic conditions for feeding, in eating articles, keeping the nails trimmed etc.

Ayurveda doctors need to observe certain precautions in selecting medicine for young children.

Best Regards,
