Some questions about prescription drugs and over-the-counter drug abuse...?

What are the effects on prescription drugs and over-the-counter drug abuse, how do you feel about the problem and what can be done?

umm if you want to know about the specific effects it depends on what drug it is.

Not much can be done but more regulation.

Nothing. Its all about the abuser. What do you think can be done? enact programs for substance abuse at the counter?, ughh NOT. Good luck!

How is the person abusing the prescription drugs? Are they writing/calling in prescriptions using a doctor's DEA number? Doctors should NEVER give patients their DEA numbers and should never print them on the prescription. If it is a drug that requires a DEA number (controlled substances) then that prescription should be called or faxed in into the pharmacy ONLY. The pharmacy can then verify the prescription through the doctor's office.

Over-the-counter abuse....what is being abused? The ones that were being abused are now behind the pharmacy counter and you have to show ID to get it. They will only allow you to buy a small amount and you can't buy more than that. Soon, Dextromethorphan will also be held behind the pharmacy counter.

I feel the government already does very little effective monitoring. I personally suffer from allergies, live in a small town nowhere near a Walmart, when I do go to a big store with cheaper prices, I can only buy one months supply of decongestants. this hurts me, not the drug user who is cooking meth, I bet they still get plenty of meds, because they know the back door.

Higher costs and laws that punish the working class instead of focusing on violent crime the new bad guy is the guy next door.
