Drug abuse / why is it?

I'm almost 18 and i haven't done oxycotins in 32 days. I went through the experiance of one of my closest friends dieing of a drug overdose which made me stop my habit that i had carried for over a year and a half. But i cant get myself to throw away my last bottle of pills, i still have 12 pills and i want to get rid of them but i cant bring myself to it. Has any one ever experienced something like this or now why i cant do it.

Of course. That is what an addiction does to you. Thats why they call it an addiction, because your body craves the substance to a point that it controls you instead of the other way around. Let go. Toss them in the toilette or somewhere else where you can't get them back and be done with it. Once its done its done right? get rid of them and move on. Its hard but time only makes it easier and keeping the pills around only makes it harder. You can do it. Is that bottle of pills in control or your existence? Or are you in control of it's?

i totally understand. i am addicted to marijuana at 25 years old. i want to stop buying it and no matter what i still do. i need to stop because i know i will be better person and so will you. you are 18. save your life now

You can't do it because you are addicted possibly keeping them around for the next time something bad happens?. The best thing for you to do is try to get treatment to maintain your current sobriety. You have been doing a good job so far keep it up!!

your doing really well, congrats. it's prob safe to leave the pills with you just for another few days till you feel stronger. it's really good you quit because of the guy you knew. your through the worst of it anyway. another way you could get rid of the pills is just throw a pill out a day and when you've thrown all them out on the last day you know your off em forever.
