About down syndrome? Can somebody help me please? |
I need websites that talk about the following about down syndrome: it's a project that my teacher hand to me.... the paper said these things so please help me. ok, first of all hon, it is not contagious. The problem is in the chromosomes, that is the part in your cells that carries your genes. Normal people have 46 chromosomes, 23 pairs. The problem with down syndrome is that the pair number 21 instead of have just 2 parts, has 3. That is why it is called trisomy 21. There is no prevention, and there is no treatment. It is a disease people are born with and will die with, it's a problem with cell division before conception. Oh by the way, risk factors are elderly pregnancy and adolescent pregnancy. I tried to put it in simple terms, hope it helps you. Seriously? Communicable or non-communicable? Prevention and treatment? Syndromes can't be transferred from one person to another, except during pregency when the baby is developing. E.g Aids can't be transferred but HIV can. |
