When do down syndrome usually develop alheizmeirs disease?

how early do trisomy 21 down syndrome devlope alheizmers disease

I don't have exact numbers for you, but I would like to direct you to a website. Standford University has a Down syndrome Research and Treatment Center and I know they are looking into this very thing. The website is

http://dsresearch.stanford.edu/

If you type in "alzheimer" in the search box, you will find a number of articles.

I believe that if a person with Down syndrome is going to get Alzheimer's (and not all do) the onset is around the 50s.

Hope this helps some!

They may not develop Alzheimer's at all.

The two are not associated diseases.......Many With Downs do not develop Alzheimer's at all.

OK. forget those first two comments, your right, Downs patinets usually will develope alzheimer's at some point. Most of the time it occurs during the late 30's to early 40's.

it is caused by the relationship of the gene and the increase in neurofibrillay tangles, with amyloid deposition.
They also have an increase risk of acute lymphocitic luekemia
