Is Charge Syndrome a sort of a 'cousin' to Down Syndrome?

Charge Syndrome is VERY rare and I know what Charge and Down Syndrome is. Just wondered if they are considered 'cousins' because they are similar.

My son has charge syndrome and I don't think they are cousins.
Charge is a rare and very complex syndrome which each letter stands for something but no two children are a like. Some children are affected by some symptoms while others are affected by others. If I post twice it's because my puter is giving me issues.. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.

I really don't know very much about Charge syndrome, but from what I can see, the physical problems associated with it seem more severe than those associated with Down syndrome. In that they are both genetic, I suppose you could loosely regard them as "cousins", but whereas Down syndrome is caused by an extra copy of the 21st chromosome, it appears that Charge syndrome may involve deletion of the 22nd along with problems associated with other chromosomes.

Thanks for asking an interesting question and introducing me to a subject I would like to explore further!
